I've been doing this since August 1997 and I love it . Any one who's skateboarded or surfed will know the feeling. I used to skateboard but the combination of shitty Scottish weather, falling on really hard surfaces and the fact that I was crap meant that I eventually gave it up after about 5 years of continually hurting myself.
Snowboarding seemed like a potentially less painful activity, I mean snow's softer than concrete right? Unfortunately the season here in Scotland doesn't get going until December and ends in April, leaving a limited number of useable weekends (especially with the weather). Fotunately there is a dry ski slope nearby, just outside Edinburgh. However, dry ski slopes consist of large mats made out of what appears to be upside down scrubbing brushes. In a friction contest between human skin and the ski surface, the surface always wins. So much for snowboarding being less painful!
